Rotovia Deventer's creative solutions to workplace challenge

Last year we started a number of initiatives at Rotovia Deventer based on our employee survey. During this survey, we’ve interviewed all employees and we’ve had some good conversations about what motivates our colleagues in their job and which elements to improve.

Innovative job rotation initiative

One of the internal initiatives that we started was to promote our departments so that we could have a better understanding of what each of us does in his/her daily job. The initial idea was to give a short presentation of each department, but to make it more interactive we came up with the following… What if we switch from our normal job to a colleague’s job for a few hours to get a better understanding? And this is what we’ve organized, a short job rotation where it was great fun to work with colleagues we don’t often get to work with.

One of our operators, who uses the same mould every day, made a drawing of a part in the R&D department to improve the handling of the mould, and with this part he makes his daily work a little bit easier.

In our powder preparation area, we’ve made some suggestions to improve health and safety.

The colleagues who joined our Logistics department found out that we could improve the shipment process of the parts which are ordered at our webshop.

These are just some examples of improvements we’ve made during these sessions just by looking at it from a different perspective. Overall conclusion: a little ‘out of the box’ thinking results in improvements and a lot of fun.
