Rotovia's first sustainability report 2023

In February, we published our inaugural ESG report showcasing our sustainability activities and the milestones we have achieved in 2023. As a leader in the rotational moulding industry, we recognise sustainability as a key value driving our business strategy and our operations.

Currently, the main source of energy for the rotational moulding industry is fossil fuels, which brings with it some challenges in terms of CO2 emissions. Although rotational moulding is not a large emitter, we need to focus on reducing our carbon footprint as an industry.

Ambitious sustainability strategy

At Rotovia, we have set an ambitious sustainability strategy until 2028 that focuses on three key pillars: reduce, reuse and recycle. We are developing several initiatives and have set ambitious KPIs to reduce our carbon footprint, reduce fossil fuel energy consumption and minimise the amount of waste generated by our operations.

In order to focus on our sustainability journey, we need to align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and, based on our core business, we have decided to focus specifically on eight of these initiatives as areas where we can make a difference. The advent of new EU sustainability legislation will also play a role in driving our sustainability agenda, and we are committed to complying with new regulatory frameworks such as the EU Taxonomy and the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).

First sustainability report - review of our sustainable operations

Our published sustainability report addresses key aspects of sustainability and is structured in accordance with Icelandic law and the requirements for non-financial factors in accordance with Article 66.d of Act No. 3/2006 on Annual Accounts. New European legislation is also being implemented, such as the CSRD and the EU Taxonomy Regulation, which Rotovia will take into account in the coming years.

The prepared report aims to provide an overview of Rotovia’s activities and performance based on key ESG factors. The aim is to demonstrate Rotovia’s sustainability in terms of environmental and social impact, both directly from operations and through the value chain.

At Rotovia, we aim to have a positive impact on the community and the environment and to create a good workplace where everyone has an equal opportunity to grow and prosper while demonstrating transparent and robust governance.

Sustainability as a common responsibility

As a rotational moulding company with the Saeplast, VARIBOX, iTUB and Tempra brands, we are committed to reducing our environmental and social impact and promoting sustainable practices in our industry.

We believe that sustainability is everyone’s responsibility, so we are committed to working with stakeholders to build a more sustainable future.

Our ESG report is a testament to our commitment and aims to inspire others to take action on sustainability so that together we can achieve a positive impact on our society and environment.
