Rotovia’s successful ERP implementation with dtnext - a future-proof step forward
Rotovia, an international specialist in rotational molding products, has been strongly committed to growth and innovation since becoming independent from Berry Global in 2022. Previously part of a larger holding without a dedicated focus on rotomoulding, the company’s newfound independence now allows it to fully concentrate on its core business. However, this also created the need for its own IT infrastructure. As a result, implementing a new ERP system was not just a strategic decision but a necessary step toward improving operational efficiency and ensuring a future-proof business.
Within a challenging timeframe of just five to six months, Rotovia successfully went live with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, including the integration of a new MES system. Was it a challenge? Without a doubt, but thanks to focus, team spirit, and the collaboration with dtnext, this transition was successfully completed.
The choice for Business Central and dtnext
Rotovia previously operated on Microsoft Dynamics AX. Drawing on past experience with Microsoft products and recommendations from external experts, the company chose Business Central. Through Indito, Rotovia was introduced to dtnext, and from the very first conversation, there was an immediate connection. dtnext’s pragmatic approach, realistic insights, and deep expertise in production environments gave Rotovia the confidence that they were the right partner for this transition.
One of the biggest challenges was the short implementation timeline, but dtnext was transparent about this from the outset. By prioritizing core processes and essential requirements, they ensured that production could continue seamlessly without compromising quality or efficiency.

A streamlined implementation and collaboration
Wouter van Wendel de Joode, Manager Finance & Control at Rotovia: “A crucial factor in the success of this project was the close collaboration between our team and dtnext’s consultants. They brought not only technical expertise but also a sense of calm and structure to the process. Their experience and work ethic allowed them to integrate seamlessly into our project team.”In addition to the ERP system, a new MES system, HYDRA X from MPDV, was also implemented, adding to the complexity of the project.
Wouter continues, “We had to move fast, especially since we were implementing both an ERP and an MES system within a very short timeframe. Together with dtnext, we proved it could be done. Of course, we faced challenges, but with clear communication, meticulous planning, and a pragmatic approach, we successfully completed this dual implementation.”
“The ERP system is the foundation of our operation, so it must be well-organized. Thanks to dtnext, we can look ahead with confidence.”
The benefits of the transition
The implementation of Business Central has provided Rotovia with a future-proof foundation. The company now benefits from:
✔️ A streamlined and automated business operation, without concerns about backups and updates.
✔️ An efficient ERP system fully integrated with the new MES.
✔️ Comprehensive documentation and training for employees.
✔️ Opportunities for further process automation.
✔️ Increased insight into business processes through Power BI and a stronger foundation for further digitalization, such as invoice scanning and workflow automation with Power Automate.
Björn de Grutter, Managing Director at Rotovia, states: “choosing a cloud-based ERP system aligns perfectly with Rotovia’s broader strategic pillars: growth, sustainability, and employee well-being. With Business Central as a SaaS solution, we no longer have to worry about backups, updates, or security. This not only reduces costs but also enhances efficiency and ensures a future-proof IT environment.”

Knowledge sharing and change management as key success factors
A new way of working always comes with challenges. At Rotovia, it was clear from the start that system adoption was just as important as the technical implementation. Therefore, significant effort was put into user adoption, communication, and training.
Wouter and Björn continue, “implementing a new ERP also means adopting a new way of working. That’s why we involved our colleagues from the very start and maintained continuous communication to build support. One of the most crucial factors for a successful ERP implementation and adoption is communication. Actively engaging employees—through ‘canteen sessions,’ personal interactions, and scheduled touchpoints—is essential. Ultimately, everything comes down to engagement and clear communication.”
The implementation prioritized knowledge-sharing across all levels of the organization, not just at the management level. This was crucial for optimizing processes and maintaining a competitive edge. Establishing a standardized way of working—one that can serve as a future blueprint for other locations—has been a key step in the company’s professionalization.
“Everyone was on board, and that’s what made it successful—not just the project team but from management to the shop floor.”
Key lessons from the process
An implementation of this scale requires strong collaboration and a well-thought-out approach. Rotovia’s key takeaways:
🔹 Engage the entire organization – Create support and ensure clear communication.
🔹 Focus on must-haves – Make deliberate choices and maintain oversight.
🔹 Thoroughly test core processes – Prevent operational disruptions after go-live.
🔹 Manage expectations – Transparency towards management and employees is essential.
🔹 Invest in a strong project team – The right people make the difference.

Looking ahead
Björn adds, “with Business Central as a solid foundation, we can now further develop our digitalization strategy. We are looking at additional optimizations, such as invoice scanning and workflow automation with Power Automate, as well as ways to better analyze and visualize our production processes. Thanks to our partnership with dtnext, we not only have a modern ERP system but also a partner that helps us stay future-proof.”
