Rotomoulded AdBlue tank

AdBlue is used for diesel engines equipped with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology to reduce pollutant emissions, so that diesel engines meet the strictest EUR VI emission standards. By injecting it into the exhaust system it mixes with the exhaust gases upstream of the catalytic converter containing the SCR system. AdBlue works under the influence of the temperature of the gases: a chemical reaction involving nitrogen oxides and ammonia produced by urea. This results in nitrogen and water that can be released from the vehicle.

The SCR technology needs AdBlue to work. That is why some vehicles need an AdBlue tank. Rotovia offers the perfect solution with rotomoulded AdBlue tanks. The rotomoulding technique allows us to create tanks with complex shapes and sizes, making it possible to tailor it to the vehicle in question. We’re more than happy to inform you about the possibilities.

AdBlue storage with rotomoulded AdBlue tanks

The rotomoulding process starts with plastic pellets that can be colorized or modified with additives if needed. They are put in the mould designed for your rotomoulded AdBlue tank after which the mould is heated and rotated around two axes. This causes the plastic to melt and distribute evenly, creating a uniform layer. Once cooled down the material solidifies inside the mould. The result is a seamless one-piece product with a uniform thickness, that is highly resistant to impact and stress and ready for AdBlue storage!

A rotomoulded UREA tank: the benefits

AdBlue is also known as UREA. This additive consists of 32,5 % UREA and 67,5% water. The use of a rotomoulded UREA tank in your vehicles comes with several benefits, such as:

  • The polyethylene they are made of is corrosion-free and AdBlue-resistant, other than most materials such as metal.
  • The tanks are virtually indestructible, they can even withstand temperatures far below zero degrees Celsius.
  • Because there are no seams, the rotomoulded UREA tanks are leak tight.
  • The tanks are very lightweight, meaning they do not add much to the overall weight of the vehicle.
  • We can add all functions needed to the rotomoulded AdBlue tank, such as heater tubes, filler necks and drain plugs.
