Rotovia Deventer produced 1,250,000 water tanks for the caravan and campers
Over more than five decades, Rotovia has supplied fresh water and waste water tanks to premium brand manufacturers of recreational vehicles. What started as early custom developments in the 1980s has grown into long-term partnerships and over 1,250,000 rotomoulded tanks produced for motorhomes and caravans worldwide.
A milestone built on decades of expertise
We are pleased to announce that we have reached a major milestone by producing 1,250,000 water tanks for motorhomes and caravans. This achievement represents our long-term commitment to providing high-quality products for outdoor enthusiasts around the world. We are proud to contribute to our customers’ motorhome and caravan experience by ensuring reliable access to clean water during their journeys.
Rotovia was already a pioneer in the early 1980s with the development of the first custom-made clean water tanks for motorhomes and caravans. This marked an important step forward in tank design, making it possible to use every available space in the vehicle to maximise water capacity. Seamless, lightweight rotomoulded tanks in complex shapes, offering high durability, have since become the standard in the recreational vehicle industry.
We would like to thank our loyal customers and our dedicated team for their trust, cooperation and continuous support in reaching this milestone.
Meeting the highest industry standards
Our drinking water tanks have undergone rigorous testing to meet German KTW-DVGW standards, assuring our customers of the highest level of quality and safety. The KTW-DVGW certification is the benchmark in the recreational vehicle industry and guarantees that our drinking water tanks meet the strict guidelines for materials that come into contact with drinking water.
This means that our tanks have been thoroughly tested for their impact on water quality and are free from harmful substances and contaminants. The tests were carried out by the German Hygiene Institute, a highly reputable organisation with extensive expertise in environmental hygiene and toxicology.
We conducted the tests not only under the minimum requirement of 20°C water, but also extended them to 60°C hot water.
Our commitment to meeting these standards reflects our dedication to providing reliable products for customers looking for reliable freshwater solutions. With this certification, customers can rest easy knowing that our potable water tanks are designed to deliver not only performance, but also safety and compliance with the highest industry standards.
Lean manufacturing
To meet the highest quality standards and on-time delivery, Rotovia follows the principles of lean manufacturing. This means that production steps are carried out with minimal stocks of semi-finished products, avoiding waste and non-value-added activities. This results in less handling, a clean production floor and the shortest possible time from production start to completed order, ready for shipment to the customer. Quality control is an integral part of every production step. Each tank is subjected to a pressurised leak test. The leak test is performed using a highly accurate and sensitive electronic testing device.
For secondary operations, such as drilling holes in the tanks for connections, Rotovia uses robots. Once a robotic mould has been designed and produced, and the robotic programme validated, secondary operations are performed automatically. This ensures accurate repeatability for error-free assembly of the tank in the vehicle.
The robotic jig also has a function for dimensional control. If the tank fits in the robotic jig, it will also fit in our customer’s vehicle. A good example of the Poka-Yoke principle, which is widely used in our manufacturing processes.
